Website bugs/Poor coding skills

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My Ooma phone modem works fine, but every time I try to do something like port my number or change my services I have to call multiple time until they finally get it right. Another problem I'm having is multiple bugs with the links on their main page/directory. From Links that don't work or round robins that just take you back to main page, I feel like I'm dealing with a government bureaucracy. My 15 year old can a better website. Sometimes I wonder if they are just not wanting to help or are incompetent. Disappointing for a company with so much promise.

Said I had 30s day to cancel refuse to refund my money. This is a Scam Company

Note that the $120 Premier Service would have saved me $40 in number porting charges, but it was cheaper to go with paying the number porting and the $5.45 a month for a phone we barely use - all of which was explained to the rep when I ordered the service.

Original review Mar 18, 2020
They quoted me $5.45 a month (I saved the Chat transcript as proof) but have been charging me over $16 per month, and they are difficult to contact. I refused the $120 for 1 year of Premier Service because competitors offered much cheaper service and thought that I would try the $5.45 a month. Somehow, Ooma "defaulted" me to the Premier service at over $16 per month. You can't cancel on their website, hard to reach someone... finally got it switched back to $5.45 (pending confirmation on the next credit card bill) and only 3 months out of 6 refund...

DEFINITELY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

I ALSO GOT A CALL AT MY SHOP FROM OOMA OFFERING THERE SERVICE I HEARD THEM OUT JUST TO ASK THEM WHY WOULD THEY REACH OUT TO ME TO SELL ME THERE PRODUCT AGAIN BUT CANNOT CALL ME TO RESOLVE ANY ISSUES OOMA IS A JOKE.

Original review Oct 30, 2019
I GOT A CALL FROM OOMA SAYING THEY WERE RUNNING A SPECIAL SO I GAVE THEM A SHOT THE "TERRITORY SALES MANAGER" WAS WHO REACHED OUT TO ME HE GAVE ME AN EXTENDED TRIAL TIME AND SAID I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING IF I DID NOT LIKE THE SERVICE. SO I SAID WHY NOT GIVE IT A SHOT? WELL LONG STORY SHORT I ENDED UP BUYING A COMPANY THAT WAS FULLY EQUIPPED SO I DID NOT NEED THE SERVICE. I GET A CALL FROM OOMA BEFORE THE 2 MONTHS TO SEE IF I LIKED THE SERVICE I SAID YOU KNOW WHAT IM GLAD YOU CALLED BECAUSE I ACTUALLY WANT TO CANCEL THE SERVICE. HE THEN GOES FROM SOUNDING HAPPY TO KIND OF IRRATATED SAYING THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL MONDAY BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE THAT CAN HELP CANCEL THE SERVICE AT THAT MOMENT IT SOUNDED STRANGE BUT I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME. NEXT THING YOU KNOW I GET A CHARGE THAT DAY FOR OVER 200! WHEN THE TOTAL SHOULD OF ONLY BEEN 160 THE FIRST CHARGE THEN 80 AFTER THAT. WELL THEY CHARGED ME THIS SAME AMOUNT TWICE! REMIND YOU THIS IS THE FREE TRIAL! WHEN I CALL TO ARGUE ABOUT ALL THIS THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO TALK TO THIS TERRITORY MANAGER THAT I CAN NO LONGER GET A HOLD OF ONCE I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE CHARGES AND I TALKED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING A MONTH AGO AND STILL NO RESPONSE OR MONEY BACK THE WORST THING IS I NEVER EVEN OPENED THE PHONES TO EVEN TRY IT OUT. SO I CAN NOT SAY THERE PHONE SERVICE IS BAD BECAUSE I TRULY DO NOT KNOW BUT WHAT I DO KNOW IS THEY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND LIKE ANY OTHER SALES TEAM BUT ONCE YOU WANT TO CANCEL THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND. TO THINK I GOT CHARGED 500$ FOR A FREE TRIAL.

Cheated by OOMA

Cancel service scam!!!!! I cancelled my account but was billed monthly for 8 months. Once I realized that they continued to bill; I called was told that while I cancelled since I didn't call back to say that I transfer the phone number that is why they continued billing me. They calmed sending me an email that I had to call again to cancel. Finally I insisted to speaker with a supervisor who first offered to credit 4 months. After referring this site and all the complaints they decided to credit the entire 8 months...only because I was a customer for 8 years.

Scammers IMO

Watch your credit card statements. They will keep charging you even if the devices are not active for years. The AG needs to look at their accounting practices. There has to be hundreds if not thousands of people being charged for nothing from these scammers.

I had the same problem. In addition we were billed for spam calls, when we were paying for an "unlimited" plan and then we were told we had to manually block all the spammers. Stay far away from OOMA

Nothing

Original review Aug 22, 2019
Called to tell OOMA number was to be ported to ATT in Dec. 2018. But OOMA did not cancel the account. OOMA says I never told them specifically to CANCEL the account. So they billed me $130 in the last 7 months on an account they acknowledge had no activity. They've offered to refund. $37, two months billing. Shame on me for not catching it on my credit card bill. But OOMA is so busy selling you if you call in to cancel your account, that they aren't listening, and have no incentive to get it right. In any dealings with OOMA, assume they got it wrong and watch your credit card. You're dealing with an offshore company and have very little recourse.

Somehow my account is getting charged every month... when I call the customer service they don't provide any information and says this is a business account... Not sure how this is activated and emails and all represent to me and 30$ were charged every month from my account... It might be my mistake when I activated it unknowingly... but when I call the customer service I am not getting any proper support.

It appears you do not regularly and faithfully verify your charge account statements on at least a monthly basis. If you believe the charge(s) are erroneous and/or fraudulent, then file a dispute with your card issuer---usually something you can do online, but be aware that you have only so long to file a dispute and if the charges go back many months, you will already have lost the ability to dispute some of them.

Many companies count on people not noticing charges. By not verifying each and every charge on your monthly statements you, ultimately are at fault and may very well pay the piper for such conduct.

Ooma is evil, pure and simple.

I'm yet another person, exhausted and disgusted with this dishonest and infurating company. I cancelled my service over two years ago. The phone call to do this was the same as what others have said. They refused to 'understand' that I was cancelling. They insisted on charging me to keep the number active so I could sell the unit to someone else. The unit is gone! I'm not selling it. I wouldn't wish this criminal service on my worst enemy. Anyway my credit card expired shortly after and since then they have been hounding me for the new card info! I don't owe them any money. It baffles me! Anyway their emails are going to a bit bucket now. To *** with these crooks.

Unauthorized Charges & Unauthorized Account Changes

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've been an Ooma customer for 16 years and over the last two years began seeing unauthorized changes and several months of charges for services I never ordered on my credit card. When I called Ooma customer service they couldn't tell me who authorized the account change from basic to a premiere service at triple the monthly charges. When I insisted that all four months of unauthorized fraudulent charges be credited the customer service rep claimed they can only go back three months, so sorry... I wasn't going to stand for that so the Ooma C.S. rep hung up on me when I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. This led to three additional calls to customer service and FOUR additional hours to get a verbal confirmation that I would receive all four months of credits in the amount of $17.70 x2 and $17.83 x2 = $71.06. Except, that when I logged into my account, it shows Ooma never correctly credited all four months, only two. This led me back to the telephone C.S. again. Three more hours on the phone and then to C.S. chat which also blew me off, claiming it's too late to recover my "full" = $71.06 refund and told me to call the 888-711-**** again tomorrow. I'm now @ 11 hours to obtain a correct refund for fraudulent charges and still getting run around to make this happen. RIDICULOUS!!

I did not order International calling plan but the salesman put it on and stared charging me $16.95 every month. For the first month I did not check the charges but when I saw the same for the second month I called OOMA Telo and this salesman could only remove the International calling plan as of now but will NOT refund the erroneous charges for the last two months.
